The short version

As an Amazon Associate, Pace & Pavement earns from qualifying purchases. When you click a buy button on this site and then buy something on Amazon, Amazon may pay us a commission. You pay the same price you would have paid anyway. Every page with buy buttons carries a short #ad notice near the top and under each button, so you never have to hunt for this.

How our links work

Buy buttons point to an address on our own site that starts with /go/. That short redirect sends you on to the retailer and adds our Amazon Associates tracking tag so the retailer knows the visit came from us. We use it so a link can be updated in one place if a listing changes. The redirect only ever sends you to the retailer named on the button; it can't send you anywhere else. Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" for search engines.

Every buy button now opens the Amazon product page for a listing we have checked against Amazon's own product data: the right brand, the right model, sold new and in stock when we checked. You may still want to change the size, width or colour on Amazon, because a shoe listing is per size and colour. Some brands (for example HOKA and Nike running shoes) are sold on Amazon mainly through third-party sellers, and we say so under those buttons.

How we handle prices

Prices are set by the retailer and change often, sometimes several times a day. Every price on this site comes from Amazon's own API, carries the date it was checked, and is refreshed daily. If that data is more than 48 hours old the number disappears and the button simply says “Check price on Amazon” instead. We never type a price from memory or from an old screenshot, we don't write prices into the article text, and we don't invent discounts or “deal” urgency.

What commission doesn't change

Rankings are set by our published rubric, not by how much a retailer or brand pays. We don't accept paid placements, free products or loaned gear. When a cheaper, simpler option is the right answer — one good daily trainer instead of a carbon race shoe for a couch-to-5K runner, for instance — we say so, even though it may earn us less. Other retailers

At launch, Amazon is the only retailer we have an affiliate relationship with. If we add a running retailer or brand program later, we'll update this page and mark those links the same way. Links to maker spec pages, training plans and studies in our articles are ordinary reference links and earn us nothing.
